this is why most british festivals have a 'major incident plan' and one all Supervisors are required to read and understand

Interesting.
Thirtyish festivals under my belt- so to speak- and I'm pretty sure I've never seen such a plan, nevermind reading one. (Understanding is never going to happen for me, that's a given!)

I noticed and read one for the first time at WOMAD - but then I was in COMMs!

There is always a major incident plan for each event, co-ordinators are aware of it usually. It is not generally passed down to supervisor level, in event of such a situation the usual command structure would operate to stewards through oxbox and supervisors. It would be the case though that Oxbox would be then under the command of what is known either as Bronze, Silver or gold command. Gold being the Chief Inspector/Constable of the relevant Police force for that county I believe, Silver the Chief Police person on site, and Bronze Event organisor (I think). Not sure any Uk festie has got to Gold situation yet, I think during rains of glasto 05 it was close though.

Of course I could be wrong about all of this!
